As there is more than 60 % of the population in western countries overweight or obese, it does not come as a big surprise that weight loss, dieting and how-to-get-slim tips and advices are week for week the centrepieces of magazines, news papers and TV-reports.
“Lose 20 pounds in one week” or “Get slim with chocolate”, every week there is a new “wonder-diet” which promises you the world. Unfortunately most of these sensational ways to lose weight are not even worth the paper they are printed on. There was, there is and there will be only one way for decent and healthy weight loss: eat less!
That is the sad truth. Eating less than normal is the only way for weight loss. Yes, you can use Hoodia Gordonii additionally, to suppress the feeling of hunger, but still, you have to eat smaller portion than normal.
Now, when eating less for weight loss it gets even more important, to eat the right food. Even when you try to lose weight, your body needs the essential nutrition, such as: vitamins, carbohydrates, fat, fibres, proteins, minerals, sugar and so on. This means, for weight loss, you have to cut down on the calories without cutting down on the necessary ingredients.
Amongst many other things, pasta is an easy way to eat tasty meals you will enjoy and still get provided with protein, minerals and carbohydrates. There are thousands of recipes for pasta – and as long as you stay away from the creamy sauces and the bacon, you can’t do much wrong with pasta.
Nowadays, you actually can choose between dry and fresh pasta. Fresh pasta has little more calories than dried pasta, but therefore it is also nutritionally superior. Fresh pasta provides a lot more calcium potassium and selenium and also slightly more copper, zinc, magnesium and iron than dried pasta. The drying process affects the minerals and some are more frazzled than others.
Saying that, fresh or dry, pasta is a healthy food and an excellent energy source. It does not really matter which one you choose, pasta is good for your health and provides the right nutrition during weight loss.
And all things aside: a plate of al dente pasta with some garlic and chilli, fried in olive oil, some oregano and fresh grilled prawns, is a meal as good as it gets. And it does not stop your weight loss.
